Trey Hendrickson to Represent FAU at the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine

Trey Hendrickson has donned a Florida Atlantic University uniform the last four seasons, wearing three different uniform numbers in that span. This Saturday, he will wear No. 99 and will suit up as a member of the East team in the 92nd annual East/West Shrine Game.

The game will be televised on the NFL Network at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21. Hendrickson will have the opportunity to work with East Head Coach Brentson Buckner from the Arizona Cardinals as well as Defensive Coordinator Brad White from the Indianapolis Colts and Defensive Line Coach Sam Mills from the Carolina Panthers.

Hendrickson, the 2016 Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year, First Team All-Conference selection and the Owls’ MVP, holds the program record for sacks, tackles for a loss, quarterback hurries and was ranked No. 1 nationally in blocked kicks at season’s end.

The Apopka native also recently received an invitation to the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine where over 300 of the nation’s best college football players will participate in the seven-day camp held Feb. 28-March 6 in Indianapolis.

Participants will be evaluated by the top executives, coaching staffs, player personnel departments and medical personnel from each of the 32 NFL teams. In essence, it is an intensive four-day job interview.

Hendrickson joins a select group of FAU players who have received an invite to the NFL Scouting Combine.Hendrickson is the 26th FAU player to participate in a postseason all-star game since the program’s inception in 2001. He is the sixth to be invited to represent himself and the Owls in the East/West Shrine Game, followingLestar Jean (2010), Alfred Morris (2011), Damian Parms (2014), Trevon Coley (2015), and Cre’von Leblanc(2015).The Apopka, Fla native was also invited to play in the NFLPA All-Star Game, but declined as it is played the same day as the East/West Shrine game.

The 2017 football team will open play on Saturday, Sept. 2 when they play host to Navy.
