Football Completes First Scrimmage

Football Completes First Scrimmage at FAU Stadium
The Florida Atlantic University's football team stepped onto the grass at FAU stadium for the first time this fall on Saturday for in intra-squad scrimmage. Members of the Owls Scholarship Fund were on hand for the practice and were treated with a pre-scrimmage session with Head Coach Carl Pelini.

Pelini spoke with the OSF members about what they would see in the scrimmage, explaining that the players' game experience would not matter. Blends of classes worked into the rotations and all four quarterbacks saw time with the first-team offense. Cornerback Keith Reaser made the first highlight play of the day when he broke up a would-be completion by quarterback Melvin German.
German would go on to complete the first scoring play, a touchdown pass to sophomore Jenson Stoshak. Fellow quarterback Jaquez Johnson also put the Owls on the board with a touchdown rush later in the scrimmage.
Defensive end Cory Henry, a senior from Opa Locka, Fla., got a hand in the air to bat down a pass in the second half of practice.
Junior defensive back D'Joun Smith snagged a pass and return for short yardage to end the scrimmage with a pick-six.
