The Florida Atlantic University volleyball team is the 2013 spring recipient of the FAU Outstanding Academic Performance: Team Award.

Volleyball earned a 3.287 team G.P.A. and 91.66 percent of the team earned a G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher in the spring 2013 semester. The Outstanding Academic Performance Award is awarded to the team with the highest percentage of student-athletes who earned a 3.0 G.P.A. or higher.
In addition to volleyball's academic achievements for the semester, FAU's student-athletes achieved the following:
· 48.2 percent of FAU's student-athletes earned a G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher
· 10 out of 19 teams earned a team G.P.A. of 3.0 G.P.A. or higher
· 11 student-athletes made the President's List with a 4.0 G.P.A.
· 14 student-athletes made the Dean's List with a minimum G.P.A. of 3.5
FAU's athletics department also recognized 199 student-athletes for earning a grade point average of 3.0 or greater for the spring 2013 semester.

FAU Volleyball Releases 2013 Schedule
Owls To Play 14 Home Matches
The Florida Atlantic University athletics department has released the 2013 volleyball schedule. The Owls will play 14 home matches in their second season under the direction of Head Coach Fernanda Nelson.
FAU will open the season on Labor Day Weekend when the team plays host to the FAU Invitational on August 30-31. Southeastern Louisiana University, Bethune-Cookman University and Jacksonville University will make up the field. The following weekend, September 6-7, FAU will take part in Jacksonville's tournament, hosted by JU.
The Owls will play Mississippi Valley State University, University of North Florida, Charleston Southern University and the host Dolphins.
The USF Invitational in Tampa, September 13-14, will be the final tournament of the regular season for the Owls. FAU's first opponent will be Purdue University on Friday, followed by USF and Pitt on Saturday. On September 18, FAU will play at Bethune-Cookman before returning home to face in-state foe UCF on Friday, September 20. The team will also host an Alumni Match on Saturday, September 21.
FAU will play its first Conference USA match on Friday, September 27, when the Owls host Marshall University. The first Conference USA road trip will take the Owls to UTEP and UTSA on October 4 and 6, respectively. The Owls will play just three of their nine October matches at home. The regular season will end on November 17, with a home match against Southern Mississippi.
The 2013 eight team Conference USA Volleyball Tournament, November 21-23, will be hosted by Middle Tennessee University in Murfreesboro, TN.
