August 8, 2013DAY THREE OF FOOTBALL PRACTICE IN THE BOOKS
Florida Atlantic University's football team returned to the field on Tuesday morning after spending Monday focusing on film study and the completion of the summer session academically.
The Owls worked through unit drills, 7-on-7 and team at the high pace that the coaching staff has been emphasizing. Defensive Coordinator Pete Rekstis noted the improved fitness of the team while pointing out the team still has progress to make in that area.
"Our guys are finding out that the work they put in the summer is paying off, but they have to get themselves in football shape...they have responded pretty well."
In the first full squad session, the defense made several big plays in the passing game, including an interception and several pass breakups. That carried over to the second 11-on-11 period, where the defense produced more turnovers as coaches on both sides of the ball encouraged their players to maintain an up-tempo pace.
The Owls will return to the practice field Wednesday morning. Tickets for the FAU vs. Miami game, as well as FAU 2013 season tickets, can be purchased through the FAU Ticket Office by calling 1-866-FAU-Owls.
